House Passes FY26-27 Budget

The House passed the FY26-27 budget this week, which includes significant investments in roads and bridges. A total of $500 million was allocated to the SCDOT and County Transportation Committees.

Bridges – $249 Million ($200M nonrecurring, $49M recurring)

Interstates – $125 Million (non-recurring)

Road Buyback Program – $25 Million (non-recurring)

CTCs – $100 Million (non-recurring)

These allocations provide necessary, targeted boosts to critical programs to keep projects moving forward as planned at a time when inflation and stagnant gas tax revenues continue to threaten the state’s ability to maintain and improve its extensive transportation network.

The budget still has a long way to go and will move to the Senate for consideration.

Senate subcommittees continue to meet to hear from respective agencies and entities. SCFOR is encouraging Senators to support allocations for road and bridge improvements.

We recognize the many competing demands on the state budget and applaud the House for prioritizing roads and bridges. Few investments deliver greater returns in safety, economic growth, and quality of life than transportation infrastructure.
